Each speaker unit of the NS-800A uses the newly developed Harmonious Diaphragm™ - made from a blend of ZYLON® (which has excellent sound speed and minimal internal dissipation) and spruce (which is used in the keyboard of Yamaha's grand pianos and is essential for transmitting sound). This brings out the harmony of the sound and makes the music sound richer and more beautiful.

As opposed to just producing a powerful sound, we strive for a sense of dynamics that expresses the contrast between stillness and movement in the music. This allows you to feel the intensely deep emotions in the music and allows you to fully immerse yourself in that musical world.

Total music reproduction

Yamaha's patented RS (Resonance Suppression) compartments are mounted on the back of the tweeter to faithfully reproduce even the finest nuances of musical instruments and voices. Two specially shaped tubes eliminate unwanted tube resonance generated behind the diaphragm, bringing the original sound to life and preserving the smallest musical nuances.

Faithful musical reproduction

Conventional speakers use a large amount of sound-absorbing material to eliminate internal standing waves in the cabinet. In the NS-800A, we used our patented absorption element to eliminate standing waves and minimized the amount of sound-absorbing material. Thus, the original character of music is reproduced full of energy and dynamics.

Soundscape

The position of the artist and instrument, and even the refined nuances and entire atmosphere of the performance space are reproduced amazingly well. The resulting soundstage is so incredibly realistic that it feels like you are personally present at the performance.

Strong musical vibration control

The basis for producing excellent sound - determining how the enclosure sounds and where vibrations should be suppressed - is much the same in making musical instruments as it is in making loudspeakers. The NS-800A's cabinet construction incorporates advanced speaker design technology. This makes full use of laser vibration meters, which are used in musical instrument research and development, and advanced Finite Element Method (FEM) analysis. The transverse section of the cabinet is optimally braced, ensuring overwhelming spatial expression, so that it feels as if the artists are right in front of you.

Seamless sonic performance

The NS-800A is the headpiece of our flagship series and features the highest quality crossover circuit components. Here, Mundorf's MCap® SUPREME Classic audio capacitor is combined with an extra-large woofer coil. The German company Mundorf is known as the ultimate in audio capacitors.

Twisted flare port

The speaker features Yamaha's original Twisted Flare Port, which modifies the way air is dispersed to the end of the port by providing a slight twist to reduce the noise of airflow around the port, which is a common problem with conventional bass-reflex speakers. This results in an exceptionally accurate response with clear, tight bass.
