Audio-Technica AT-VM95SH

The Audio-Technica AT-VM95SH is equipped with a bare Shibata diamond stylus, one of the most highly regarded stylus profiles among discerning audiophiles. This stylus is known for its rich and powerful reproduction of the midrange and bass, while simultaneously offering excellent detail in the high frequencies. With a frequency response up to 25 kHz, the AT-VM95SH delivers a refined and musical listening experience. The cartridge features an aluminum cantilever and has an output voltage of 3.5 mV.

The VM95 series is designed for long-term use. A Shibata stylus has an average lifespan of approximately 800 hours of playback. When the diamond is worn out, there is no need to replace the entire cartridge. By simply replacing the stylus, the cartridge can be used for virtually an unlimited time. In addition, the VM95 series allows you to change the sound characteristics by selecting a different stylus type.

All models in the VM95 series use the same electromagnetic generator, making all replacement needles fully interchangeable. As a result, the AT-VMN95C, AT-VMN95E, AT-VMN95EN, AT-VMN95ML, AT-VMN95SH, and AT-VMN95SP are fully compatible with the same cartridge housing.

It is also compatible with the AT-XP series of DJ cartridges. The XP series’ generator supports all VM95 replacement needles and delivers a higher output voltage, enabling better integration with professional DJ mixers. Conversely, the AT-XP series needles can also be used on VM95 cartridges. The suspension and compliance of the XP series are optimized for intensive DJ use, such as manual cueing and back-cueing, while the VM95 series is specifically designed to deliver the most natural-sounding audio reproduction possible.

The Shibata diamond stylus is known for its characteristic, smooth reproduction of the midrange and high frequencies, delivering a powerful and full-bodied presentation of vocals and instruments. As a result, the AT-VM95SH offers a balanced combination of detail, warmth, and dynamics.

Like the other models in the VM95 series, the AT-VM95SH is equipped with two M2.6 threaded inserts, allowing it to be mounted on a tonearm or detachable headshell without the use of nuts. Each cartridge comes with a pair of 8-mm M2.6 screws, a pair of 11-mm M2.6 screws, and two plastic washers, ensuring a simple and secure installation.
