The Shanling EH90 is a high-quality R2R DAC and headphone amplifier designed for discerning music lovers. Thanks to a fully discrete balanced amplifier architecture, an advanced Pro R2R DAC, and an output power of up to 5.2 watts at 32 ohms, it delivers an exceptionally powerful and refined listening experience.

The EH90 is equipped with Shanling’s most advanced Pro R2R DAC design to date. The converter utilizes 212 high-precision resistors with a tolerance of just 0.01%, combined with a 19-bit architecture, a 4-bit compensation code, and a push-pull differential circuit. This results in an extremely natural, detailed, and musical sound reproduction.

For the headphone amplifier, Shanling developed an entirely new discrete design that perfectly complements the characteristics of the R2R DAC. By using JFET transistors in the input stage and MOSFET transistors in the output stage, the amplifier achieves an ideal balance between transparency, control, and the natural sound of R2R technology.

A dual-power-supply architecture ensures optimal performance. A custom-designed 35-watt linear transformer powers the analog section, while a separate 10-watt power supply powers the digital section. This separation minimizes interference and ensures that the sound reproduction remains exceptionally clean and quiet. High-quality capacitors with a total capacity of over 12,000 μF further contribute to a stable and powerful power supply.

With a maximum output power of 5.2 watts per channel at 32 ohms, the EH90 is suitable for virtually any high-quality headphone. Regardless of impedance or load, the amplifier delivers stable, controlled, and effortless performance.

For digital sources, the EH90 features an FPGA-supported I2S input. Thanks to support for ten different I2S pin configurations, it offers exceptionally broad compatibility with transport systems and digital audio sources.

Bluetooth 5.4 makes wireless streaming easy and supports high-quality codecs such as LDAC, aptX Lossless, aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, AAC, and SBC. This allows music to be played in high quality from smartphones and tablets.

The built-in HDMI ARC input allows the EH90 to be connected directly to modern televisions and home entertainment systems. This makes it an excellent link between high-quality audio and modern video sources.

For users seeking maximum precision, the EH90 also features an external clock input. This allows an external master clock to be connected to further improve timing accuracy.

Thanks to its wide range of connection options, the EH90 is exceptionally versatile. Headphones can be connected via 6.35 mm single-ended, 4.4 mm balanced, or XLR outputs. For integration into a hi-fi system, both RCA and XLR outputs are available, with the preamp mode allowing direct connection to active speakers or power amplifiers.

The design is in line with Shanling's 90 Series and combines an elegant look with high-quality craftsmanship. The housing is made of durable aluminum and features a large 4.8-inch color display that clearly shows playback information and settings.
