The Shanling EC Zero T MAX is the updated version of the popular EC Zero T and builds on the warm, natural sound for which this model is known. For the MAX version, Shanling has incorporated the latest advancements in R2R DAC technology and further refined the headphone amplifier based on user feedback. The result is a more powerful, refined, and even more versatile portable CD player.

Enhanced headphone amplifier

The redesigned amplifier is built around the powerful AD8397 amplifier chip. As a result, the EC Zero T MAX delivers significantly more output power, while the output impedance has been reduced. This ensures optimal drive for both demanding over-ear headphones and high-quality in-ear monitors. Despite the higher performance, the warm and musical character of the original EC Zero T remains fully intact.

Advanced R2R DAC Technology

The EC Zero T MAX uses the same high-quality 24-bit R2R DAC module as the original model. This discrete DAC is constructed from 192 high-precision resistors with a tolerance of just 0.1%. Thanks to further optimizations to the DAC circuitry and the power supply section—based on Shanling’s PRO R2R technology from the SCD3.3 and SCD1.3R—the MAX version offers an even more spacious soundstage, greater depth, and improved transparency in the midrange and high frequencies.

Powerful performance on battery power

Despite its compact size, the EC Zero T MAX delivers impressive performance without an external power supply. Through its balanced output, the player delivers up to 1,300 mW at 32 ohms, while the single-ended output delivers up to 361 mW at 32 ohms. This makes the player suitable for a wide range of headphones and earbuds, without compromising sound quality or portability.

The EC Zero T MAX stands out not only technically but also in terms of its appearance. The chassis features a stylish titanium-gray finish and a new, refined pattern on the CD door. In addition, subtle design elements have been incorporated into the chassis, giving the player a modern and luxurious look that perfectly complements its high-quality performance.
