Chord Electronics Huei

The Huei by Chord Electronics was conceived, developed, and manufactured entirely in Great Britain. The device is designed to provide turntables with the same high-quality amplification for which Chord Electronics has become known over the past thirty years.

Thanks to support for both moving magnet and moving coil cartridges, the Huei is compatible with a wide range of cartridges. This is made possible by extensive gain and impedance adjustment settings. The high- and low-gain switching options are easily accessible via the front-panel controls, providing additional flexibility in use.

This advanced design introduces, for the first time in a Chord Electronics phono preamplifier, an extremely low-noise microprocessor-based control system for key functions, including a convenient memory function. With multiple impedance-matching options, an eight-level switchable gain control, and an adjustable rumble filter, the Huei offers extensive compatibility with a wide range of turntable setups.

The housing is precision-machined from a solid block of aerospace-grade aluminum and shares the same compact size as the brand’s well-known Qutest DAC. In addition, the Huei features a window on top that offers a view of the illuminated internal electronics. The distinctive multicolored control clusters, familiar from Chord Electronics’ digital products, are also incorporated into the design. These illuminated controls provide direct access to the gain and impedance settings, the choice between MM and MC cartridges, and the built-in rumble filter.

The Huei offers a stylish, practical, and high-quality solution for integrating turntables into Chord Electronics systems and other audio systems. The unit features both unbalanced RCA outputs and balanced XLR outputs, as well as RCA inputs. A high-quality external 12V power supply is included as standard.
